Japan Corporate Services Inflation Surges Beyond Expectations

Japan's corporate services inflation has seen another significant increase in July, as reported by the Bank of Japan. The corporate services price index rose by 3.6% year-on-year in July, exceeding expectations of a 3.2% growth and surpassing June's revised 3.4% gain.

This rise in inflation is attributed to businesses passing on increased expenses and costs to consumers due to the weak yen and the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran. Despite government subsidies that have partially shielded consumers from price increases, Japanese consumer inflation has continued to accelerate over recent months.

The latest data has bolstered confidence among market analysts that the Bank of Japan will hike interest rates in September, amid growing concerns about sticky inflation.
