Japan Machinery Orders Soar on Overseas Demand
Japan's industrial machinery orders rose sharply in June, reaching 1.11 trillion yen as foreign demand more than doubled.
The surge in overseas orders offset a slight decline in domestic orders, with cumulative orders for January through June totaling 4.36 trillion yen.
The Japan Society of Industrial Machinery Manufacturers reported that external demand climbed 154.2% to 638.488 billion yen in June, while domestic demand fell 1.8% to 468.482 billion yen.
Among individual categories, chemical machinery saw a significant increase of 231.9%, driven by stronger government and public-sector demand as well as overseas orders.
