Japan Spends Record $96.5 Billion on Currency Support Measures
Japan's Ministry of Finance revealed that it spent a record 15.39 trillion yen ($96.5 billion) between July 30 and August 26 to support its currency, marking the largest amount in a single intervention round.
This move is part of Japan's ongoing efforts to stabilize its currency amidst rising cross-border capital flows, which have made it increasingly challenging for governments to influence exchange rates.
The total amount spent on currency interventions this year has reached $170 billion, with two rounds of support measures so far.
