Japan Stocks Mixed Amid Strong Data and Rate-Hike Expectations
Japan's stock market was relatively flat on Tuesday as investors weighed strong economic data against expectations of a Bank of Japan interest rate hike next week.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 rose 0.31% to 66,608.42 in early trading, while the broader Topix slipped 0.51% to 4,104.89.
Revised data showed Japan's gross domestic product expanded faster than initially estimated in the second quarter.
The yen continued to strengthen, touching 153.37 per dollar, its strongest level since February.
