Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama has announced that Japan will continue to closely communicate with the United States to ensure orderly foreign exchange markets. This move comes as the USD/JPY pair is up 0.03% on the day at 154.48.

Katayama emphasized that the government's stance remains unchanged since US-Japan coordination, and they will aim to ensure stable currency movements by maintaining close communication with the U.S.

This move has received backing from Bessent and JPMorgan's Dimon on Japan's economic strategy at G20. The Japanese Yen is often seen as a safe-haven investment, which means that in times of market stress, investors are more likely to put their money in the Japanese currency due to its supposed reliability and stability.
