Japanese Card Shop Offers $6,100 Bounty for Thief's Capture
A trading card shop in Gifu, Japan, has been robbed of its inventory, and the manager is offering a substantial reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the capture of the culprit.
The store, which specializes in Pokémon and One Piece trading cards, was broken into late at night on July 23. The thief made off with much of the shop's stock, leaving behind only limited security footage.
With prices of these highly sought-after cards continuing to rise, incidents like this have become increasingly common in Japan. In recent cases, thieves have stolen millions of dollars' worth of Pokémon cards, using them to launder dirty money or resell them for a significant profit.
The card shop's manager has announced that it will reward anyone who can provide information leading to the capture of the thief with 1 million yen (approximately $6,100 USD) if they are brought in alive. Those who have valuable information but cannot provide physical evidence can still submit their tips for a reward of 50,000 yen (about $305 USD).
