Japanese Curry Rice Price Drops Below 350 Yen for First Time in 11 Months

The cost of making curry rice at home in Japan dropped below 350 yen for the first time in 11 months, according to Teikoku Databank. The 'curry rice price,' which takes into account the cost of ingredients, utilities, and other expenses, stood at 349 yen per serving in July. This decline was mainly due to lower rice prices.

The figure is just 1.5% higher than the same month last year, bringing the cost of the popular dish close to its level a year earlier. Teikoku Databank expects the curry rice price for August to fall from the same month a year earlier, marking the first year-on-year decline in about four years.
