Japanese Education Ministry Seeks Record Budget to Boost AI, Semiconductor Research
Japan's education ministry has unveiled a policy to seek a record 8.775 trillion yen in its general-account budget for fiscal 2027, up 49.2% from the previous year.
The budget aims to focus on developing human resources in growth fields, including artificial intelligence and semiconductors.
To boost research capabilities, the ministry plans to double its request for Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research to 455.2 billion yen, a significant increase from the previous year.
