Japan's Budget Requests Soar to Record High as PM Takaichi Seeks Growth Stimulus

Japan's budget requests for fiscal 2027 are set to reach a new high of approximately 143 trillion yen, according to Kyodo News. This figure represents about $890 billion in USD. The increase is attributed to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's efforts to stimulate economic growth through increased government spending.

The budget requests come as financial markets remain cautious about the Takaichi government's plans, which may further deteriorate Japan's fiscal health and lead to another decline in the value of the yen and Japanese government bonds.
