Japan's Core CPI Holds Firm as National Inflation Tops 2%
Japan's National Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 2.0% year-over-year in July, surpassing the previous reading of 1.6%. The data was released by the Japan Statistics Bureau on Friday.
The core CPI, which excludes fresh food and energy prices, also climbed to 1.8% year-over-year, matching market consensus.
The USD/JPY pair responded positively to the news, increasing by 0.45% to 158.88.
