Japan's Core Inflation Remains Below BOJ Target at 1.8%
Japan's core inflation rate is expected to remain steady at 1.8% year-on-year in August, according to a Reuters poll of 16 economists.
This figure matches July's rate and remains below the Bank of Japan's (BOJ) target of 2%.
The nationwide core consumer price index (CPI), excluding fresh food, is expected to hold steady despite rising crude oil prices driven by Middle East conflicts.
However, government electricity and gas subsidies helped balance the overall index.
