Japan's corporate goods prices continue to rise at an elevated pace, with a 7.2% year-over-year increase in July, according to the Bank of Japan. This marks a slight slowdown from June's revised 7.3%, which was the highest since March 2023. On a monthly basis, prices rose 0.1% after being upwardly revised from 0.5% in the previous month.

The high cost pressure on companies is keeping central bank officials on their toes as they consider whether to proceed with additional interest rate hikes to contain inflation. The Bank of Japan reported the data Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 12:29 AM UTC.
