Japan's Foreign Reserves Plummet by Record $79.575 Billion in August
Japan's foreign exchange reserves plummeted by a record $79.575 billion in August to stand at $1.207524 trillion, marking the fourth consecutive monthly decrease.
The decline was attributed to currency market intervention carried out by the government and the Bank of Japan at the end of July.
The rate of decline was the largest since comparable records began in April 2000, according to the Finance Ministry.
