Expenditure on goods and services fell by 0.9%, a smaller decline than expected, while imports rose by 2.6% year-on-year, meeting forecasts but slowing from the previous quarter's 3.2% increase. The Bank of Japan has stated that the economy is expected to continue growing moderately, supported by steady wages and investment.
