Japan's Tech Stocks Lead Nikkei Rally Amid Rate Hike Fears
The Nikkei 225 Index and Topix Index both rose on Monday as technology-linked stocks performed well in Japan.
The Nikkei gained 2% to above 66,300 while the broader Topix Index increased by 0.8% to 4,136, marking a second consecutive session of gains for Japanese shares.
The advance was led by tech and AI-related stocks, with US chipmakers and memory stocks rallying on Friday due to improving sentiment in the sector.
However, the broader market remained under pressure from strong US jobs data that boosted expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike this month.
