JPMorgan Defies USD Bear Market with Bullish Outlook

The US Dollar has suffered a significant setback after the Federal Reserve meeting, with investors questioning the Fed's commitment to fighting inflation. Despite this, J.P. Morgan remains bullish on the Greenback, citing three reasons why it should remain supported.

The bank argues that elevated inflation breakevens indicate that markets have not priced in an aggressively dovish Fed path, and that high short-dated US yields provide a meaningful carry advantage over several low-yielding currencies. Additionally, alternatives to the US Dollar are seen as unappealing, with J.P. Morgan cautioning against the Euro, Swiss Franc, Swedish Krona, New Zealand Dollar, and Canadian Dollar.

J.P. Morgan acknowledges that the Fed credibility debate has made the long-Dollar position less straightforward, increasing the risk of near-term volatility. However, the bank's analysts retain their long-Dollar stance, noting that markets may have moved too quickly in pricing out further Fed tightening.
