Kansas Unemployment Holds Steady Amid Job Market Shifts
The latest labor report from Kansas has revealed that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained steady at 3.8 percent in July, mirroring June's numbers. This figure is slightly higher than the 3.7 percent seen in July of last year.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Labor Market Information (LMI) division of the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL), total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 500 jobs from June, with private sector jobs rising by 1,500 while government positions decreased by 1,000. The largest gain in the private sector was in education and health services, which added 1,800 jobs.
The labor force participation rate for Kansas declined to 66.7 percent in July, marking a change from previous months. Over the past year, since July 2025, Kansas' seasonally adjusted total nonfarm jobs have increased by 5,600, driven by an increase of 9,000 private sector jobs and a decrease of 3,400 government jobs.
