Kashkari Advocates Immediate Rate Hike to Combat Inflation
Neel Kashkari, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, believes that interest rates should rise immediately to combat inflation. He was one of three officials who dissented from last week's decision to keep rates unchanged and supported a 25-basis-point rate increase.
Kashkari warned that delaying the response could lead to entrenched inflation, forcing the Fed into more aggressive tightening later.
