Katayama: Japan to Focus on Key Policies for Economic Growth
Japan's Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama stated that the government will focus on key policies in the FY27 budget to drive economic growth, balancing fiscal sustainability and economic growth. However, she refused to provide more details on the fiscal budget.
Katayama also mentioned that the government has received various opinions on a scheme for Japanese Government Bonds (JGBs) for retail investors and is likely to receive tax reform requests for JGBs targeting retail investors. The Finance Minister stated that they will carefully discuss with relevant parties, including the International Democratic Party (IDP), on tax reform measures for JGBs for retail investors.
The comments from Katayama did not trigger any significant market reaction in the Japanese Yen, with USD/JPY trading 0.13% higher near 159.30 as of writing.
