Kazimir Calls for Another ECB Rate Hike Amid Inflation Concerns

European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council member and Governor of the National Bank of Slovakia, Peter Kazimir, has signaled a hawkish monetary policy outlook. He believes that at least one more interest rate hike is needed to mitigate the risks of second-round inflation effects. According to Kazimir, these effects can be costly to reverse, and it's essential for the ECB to act before they become visible.

Kazimir also stated that if the economic outlook deteriorates, it would warrant more tightening than currently expected. Additionally, he mentioned that even if the inflation situation improves somewhat, a rate hike will still be warranted. The Euro has not reacted significantly to Kazimir's comments, but it has surrendered some of its early gains due to a recovery in the US Dollar.
