Kelowna's unemployment rate remains the highest in Canada for metropolitan areas, despite dropping to 9% in August from 9.3% the previous month.

The city added around 1,100 jobs in August, but this is still a significant concern as B.C. lost a total of 42,000 jobs nationwide during the same period.

Adrian Dix, acting minister of jobs and economic growth, attributed the resilience of British Columbia's economy to its 'steady strength and resilience' despite facing challenges from U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs.

However, critics argue that the NDP's economic agenda has failed to protect key industries such as forestry, leading to a loss of full-time jobs in the sector.
