Khamenei Unveils New Tactics Against US Economic War on Iran
Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has devised new tactics to counter the US economic war, which includes isolating Iran from global markets. In a statement on August 28, Khamenei emphasized the need for domestic production and placed 'economic resistance' policies at the heart of the government's agenda.
He called for boosting economic growth, increasing investment, and directing capital flows into essential sectors. According to Khamenei, Iran needs to ensure an adequate supply of goods while using imports 'rationally and wisely'. He also commended the government's efforts during the conflict but acknowledged that the US sanctions have had a significant impact on the economy.
The Iranian rial has fallen to a record low against the US dollar in the free market, amid further US sanctions aimed at crippling the Iranian economy. The US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent declared the launch of 'Operation Economic Isolation' against Iran, describing it as 'a comprehensive economic attack targeting Iran's financial ties globally.'
