King Charles III Notes Flood Market with Counterfeit Copies

Residents in Chipping Norton and Witney are being warned to be cautious of counterfeit cash scams after several reports of high-value items being sold for fake notes featuring King Charles III.

The police have issued advice on safe transactions, urging sellers to request payment by bank transfer whenever possible. If a seller does accept cash, they should inspect every note carefully and be wary of buyers who try to rush or pressure them into completing the sale quickly.

PCSO Wesley Smith noted that genuine Bank of England notes include several security features, such as a transparent window, hologram, raised print, and changing metallic images. He emphasized that sellers should not attempt to spend counterfeit notes, but instead contact Report Fraud on 0300 123 2040 with as much information as possible.
