King Charles to Replace Queen Elizabeth II on New $20 Bill
The Bank of Canada is set to unveil a new $20 bill featuring an image of King Charles, marking the first time he has been featured on Canadian paper currency. This comes after the bank was directed by Justin Trudeau's government to feature the King in its next redesign process.
The reigning monarch has been featured on Canadian bills since 1935, but this will be the first time his image replaces that of Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in September 2022. The Royal Canadian Mint has produced coins featuring King Charles since 2023.
