Kishida Dismisses Joint US-Japan Intervention as Short-Term Fix
Japan's former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has expressed his views on the recent joint US-Japan intervention to support the yen. The intervention, which occurred on Friday, propped up the currency, but according to Kishida, it is not a game-changer for the economy or the currency itself.
Kishida believes that while the intervention may buy some time for the yen, it will only have a lasting impact if the underlying economic situation and environment change. The former Prime Minister emphasized the importance of Japan's ¥370 trillion ($2.3 trillion) growth strategy, which he sees as the long-term vision for transforming Japan's fortunes.
Kishida made these comments on Wednesday in an interview, where he provided his perspective on the recent market developments and the role of the joint US-Japan intervention.
