Kiwi Rises on Hawkish RBNZ Outlook, Ahead of Jackson Hole
The New Zealand Dollar is rising against the US Dollar, trading near 0.5960 in Friday's Asian session. This movement is attributed to a hawkish Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) outlook.
According to BNZ analysts, there is a strong possibility of a 25 basis point RBNZ rate hike in September to 2.75%, with markets pricing the move at 94%. This increase in interest rates has reinforced expectations of further RBNZ tightening, supporting demand for the Kiwi.
Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's upcoming Jackson Hole remarks are also in focus as a potential driver for the US Dollar and NZD/USD. Any indication of a more restrictive policy stance from Warsh could lift the US Dollar, weighing on NZD/USD.
