Korea Foreign-Currency Deposits Rise on Corporate Dollar Inflows
Foreign-currency deposits in Korea rose for a third consecutive month in June, reaching $113.33 billion according to the Bank of Korea.
The increase of $1.08 billion from May is attributed to large corporations' receipts of current-account payments and customer deposits at securities firms for overseas securities investment.
US dollar deposits, which account for the largest share of resident foreign-currency deposits, rose by $2.25 billion to $97.8 billion in June.
Corporate deposits increased by $1.58 billion to $98.99 billion, while individual deposits fell by $500 million to $14.33 billion.
