Korea Inflation Poised to Rebound as US Jobs Data Looms
South Korea's inflation is likely to re-enter the 3% range due to base effects from last year's telecom fee discounts. The country will release August consumer price trends on September 2, and a higher-than-expected increase could intensify policy pressure on price stability.
The National Data Agency will also publish July industrial activity data this week. In June, industry production, consumption, and investment all increased, marking the first triple increase in three months.
Meanwhile, the United States will release its first nonfarm payrolls report since the Jackson Hole symposium on Friday. Job gains of 65,000 to 80,000 are expected, with an unemployment rate forecast at 4.1% to 4.2%. If employment and wages remain solid, the inflation-focused tightening stance could strengthen.
