The KOSPI index surged to approach 7,000 points on September 7, with a gain of 4.61% at closing. This rally was driven by a strong performance in AI concept and semiconductor sectors, with Samsung Electronics rising 5.68% to close at 270,000 KRW.

The Nikkei 225 index also trended higher, closing up 2.12% at 66,399.79 points. Japanese tech giant SoftBank led the way, surging over 11% to close at 6,217 JPY.

The rally was attributed to the recent release of U.S. August nonfarm payroll data, which beat expectations and eased recession fears in the world's largest economy. This boost in risk appetite sparked a collective rally in memory and chip stocks, prompting Japanese and South Korean stock markets to follow suit.
