Kospi Index Rises Amid Calm Before US Nonfarm Payroll Data
The Kospi Index rose by over 1% on Friday as a sense of calm emerged ahead of the upcoming US nonfarm payroll data. The index rose to 6,663 points despite top companies like Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix experiencing modest growth.
However, the index remains under intense pressure due to ongoing deleveraging in South Korea. Despite this, other global indices also rebounded, with Samsung Electronics jumping by 1.80% and SK Hynix soaring by over 2.76%.
The AI stocks sector also experienced a boost after OpenAI launched Astra, its most advanced model. Dell and HP Enterprise's strong earnings further contributed to the surge in AI-related stocks.
