Kospi Slides as Investors Await Jackson Hole Clarity

The Kospi Index plummeted 1.2% on Friday as investors shifted their focus away from South Korean stocks ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's highly anticipated speech at the Jackson Hole symposium.

The decline stood in stark contrast to the MSCI Asia Pacific gauge, which rose 0.4%, with seven out of its eleven subgroups posting gains.

The subdued trading across the region was largely due to market participants holding off on major positioning decisions before Warsh's address, scheduled for later in the day at the Fed's annual gathering in Wyoming.
