Kospi Surges on Eased Rate Hike Worries
The Korean stock market opened higher on Friday, following overnight gains in the US. The Kospi rose by 1.14% after a Federal Reserve official signaled a cautious approach to further monetary tightening.
This easing of concerns over rate hikes boosted investor sentiment and led to an increase in stock prices. Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 1.18%, while the S&P 500 gained 1.06% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.4%
The Kospi opened at 6,654.36, up 74.88 points from the previous day's close.
