KOSPI Surges Toward 7,000 as Nikkei Tops 66,000
The KOSPI index surged 3.5% at the open on September 7, approaching the 7,000 mark to trade at 6,921.17 points.
This strong rebound in Asian trading comes after a decline across major U.S. stock indices last Friday due to stronger-than-expected nonfarm payrolls.
South Korea's core tech chip stocks also opened higher and moved upward, with Samsung Electronics rising 4.11% to 266,000 KRW and SK Hynix advancing 5.46% to 1,737,000 KRW.
The Nikkei 225 Index rose 2.07%, climbing above 66,000 points to trade at 66,366.55.
