Lagarde Flags Ongoing Energy Market Volatility, Elevated Prices
European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde stated that the current energy shock is longer-lasting, adding to the volatility and pressure on energy prices.
In an interview, she emphasized that the conflict in the Middle East continues to impact global markets, making it difficult for the ECB to predict a return to normalcy.
Lagarde also highlighted the need for the ECB to maintain price stability, citing inflation rates above 2% at 3.3% in the euro area.
