Lagarde Warns Bulgaria on Fiscal Discipline Amid High Inflation
European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde has expressed concern over Bulgaria's economic situation, urging the country to maintain stable public finances. Speaking at a press conference in Frankfurt am Main, Lagarde noted that Bulgaria is experiencing high price levels and inflation, which she attributed partly to previously held prices entering the market.
Lagarde emphasized the importance of bringing inflation back to more acceptable levels for Bulgarian citizens. She highlighted that differences in inflation levels between EU member states are not unusual but stressed the need for fiscal discipline in addressing current economic challenges.
