European Central Bank Chief Economist Philip Lane warned that persistent energy price rises could negatively impact consumer spending in the euro zone by autumn. Speaking at a conference in Ireland, Lane acknowledged that an uncertain issue for policymakers is how a prolonged increase in energy costs will affect personal consumption.
