Liberia Increases US Dollar Component of Salary Payments for Three Months
The Government of Liberia has made significant changes to how it pays its vendors and civil servants. According to an Inter-Agency Circular dated September 11, 2026, vendors will now receive 100% of their payments in US dollars for the next three months. This represents a major shift from the previous arrangement where they received 60% of their payments in US dollars and 40% in Liberian dollars.
Civil servants will also see an increase in their US dollar component, with 80% of their salaries now paid in US dollars and 20% in Liberian dollars. This change is aimed at stabilizing payment operations and ensuring continuity in public financial management within the country's dual-currency environment.
The ministry has urged all registered government vendors to verify that their US dollar bank account information on file is accurate and active, as a precautionary measure to prevent delays in processing payments.
