London Market Ends Mixed as US Inflation Data Comes in Line with Expectations
The London market ended mixed on Wednesday as investors reacted to in-line US inflation data. The FTSE 100 index closed down 11.04 points, or 0.1%, at 10,833.15.
US consumer prices rose 3.4% on-year in July, matching consensus cited by FXStreet. Excluding food and energy, annual core consumer price inflation eased to 2.5% in July, also in line with expectations.
The data pared back rate hike bets across the pond, with a 58% chance of an interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve now forecasted, down from 52% on Tuesday.
