Loonie Hits Highest Close Since June 5 as TSX Reaches New Heights
The Canadian dollar, also known as the loonie, reached its highest close since June 5 on Tuesday, finishing at US$0.7180 or US$1=C$1.3927.
This marks a slight increase from Monday's close of US$0.7173 or US$1=US$1.3942.
The United States Dollar Index added 0.04 of a point at 99.85, while crude oil prices rose due to concerns over the Strait of Hormuz.
Crude oil prices saw an increase with West Texas Intermediate advancing US$1.24 per barrel at US$83.37 and Brent crude oil up US$1.36/barrel at US$89.08.
