Loonie Slides Further as Canadian Dollar Retreats
The Canadian dollar continued its downward trend on Friday morning, adding to its multi-day decline. As of 8:36 am CDT, the Loonie had dropped to US$0.7211 or US$1=C$1.3866, a slight decrease from Thursday's close of US$0.7235 or US$1=C$1.3822. This move comes as the United States Dollar Index remained virtually unchanged at 98.785.
Crude oil prices also retreated on Friday morning, after a series of increases during the week. West Texas Intermediate gave up US$3.29 at US$99.19 per barrel, while Brent crude pulled back US$3.11 at US$104.52.
