Loonie Surges as Canada-US Trade Talks Near Deal
The Canadian dollar has continued its upward trend due to positive outlook on trade talks between Canada and the US.
A deal is reportedly close, with a midnight deadline looming. The Loonie's strength can be seen in its exchange rate, which currently stands at $1=C$1.3746 as of 8:40 am CDT. This represents a slight increase from Thursday's close of $1=C$1.3785.
The US Dollar Index has also taken a hit, down by 0.08 points to 98.705. Meanwhile, crude oil prices have remained relatively stable, with West Texas Intermediate at $86.95 per barrel and Brent crude at $94.24. The TSX/S&P Composite Index has seen an increase of 334.75 on Friday morning, reaching 36,700.17.
