Loonie Surges on Strong Job Numbers and Low Unemployment Rate
The Canadian dollar experienced a boost in value on Thursday due to an unexpected surge in new job numbers.
Statistics Canada reported that a significant 75,000 jobs were added in July, bringing down the unemployment rate to its lowest level in two years at 6.4 per cent.
This news sent the loonie soaring to its highest close since June 10, reaching US$0.7172 or US$1=C$1.3943.
