Macklem Defends Replacement Workers During Security Strike
The Bank of Canada's governor, Tiff Macklem, has defended the use of replacement workers during a strike involving security officers.
The strike, which began in July 2026, involved security personnel at the central bank's Ottawa location. In response to the disruption, the Bank of Canada brought in replacement workers to maintain operations.
Macklem argued that the use of replacement workers was necessary to ensure the continued functioning of the bank's critical systems and services.
