Macklem Sees No Return to Normal in Canada-US Relations
Bank of Canada governor Tiff Macklem expressed cautious optimism about the country's economic outlook. In an interview, he acknowledged that while there have been some positive developments in the Canadian economy, the situation with the United States remains uncertain.
Macklem stated that a return to a more normal relationship between Canada and the U.S. is desirable, but he doesn't anticipate going back to where things were before the current administration's emphasis on tariffs and protectionism.
He emphasized the need for realism in assessing the situation, which suggests that significant changes are unlikely in the near future.
