Market Volatility Looms as Inflation Data and Fed Decision Approach
Nvidia's recent price action has raised questions about whether the stock has enough momentum to break through resistance. The stock produced two weak candles, including one with a long upper wick that signaled rejection of higher prices, followed by a strongly negative session. However, the broader uptrend remains intact as long as Nvidia holds above its 70-session moving average.
Apple's price gap created during the July 31 decline has become an important reference point. The stock could revisit the gap and overcome it decisively, signaling strength, or it could turn lower again, forming a new downtrend and helping to create a lower high. Currently, Apple is approaching its previous swing high around $315 from June 2.
AMD's recent move above its bearish trendline is an interesting technical setup among the five stocks mentioned. The stock had been trapped in a lateral range, with the 70-day moving average acting as an important level. A break below this level would weaken the setup and potentially lead to a larger correction.
Nike's slow decline rather than a sharp capitulation move makes it a more difficult short-term setup. However, the stock has fallen from around $160 to $37, making a lasting trend reversal challenging. A clear RSI divergence followed by a rebound that breaks the previous swing high would be a convincing sign of a bottom.
The focus should remain on whether these technical levels hold as markets reassess interest rates. Investors are advised to dig deeper into company fundamentals, valuations, and potential opportunities for a more informed decision-making process.
