Markets on Edge Ahead of US Inflation Data
Markets are anxiously awaiting US inflation data on Thursday after the European Central Bank raised its interest rate to 2.50% from 2.25%.
Oil prices remain a concern for investors, with Brent crude climbing above $100 a barrel on Wednesday for the first time since July.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite fell by 0.56% and 0.97%, respectively, in early trading, while Germany's 10-year bond yield held at 3.45%, its highest level since April 2011.
Investors are also digesting signs of looser US fiscal policy after President Donald Trump promised to pay every U.S. adult a $5,000 'Trump dividend' if his party wins November's congressional elections.
