McClay Predicts Direct Flights Between NZ and India in Two to Three Years
New Zealand Trade and Investment Minister Todd McClay predicts that direct commercial flights between India and New Zealand will become a reality within the next two to three years.
This announcement was made at the 12th Annual Indian Newslink Sports, Community, Arts and Culture Awards in Auckland on July 27, 2026. McClay emphasized that a direct aviation link would elevate the relationship between the two countries to a new level.
The New Zealand-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA), signed on April 27, 2026, is expected to create opportunities beyond trade. According to McClay, this Agreement will transform New Zealand's economy for generations while strengthening personal relationships between the nations.
