Melinda Cilento Appointed to Reserve Bank Monetary Policy Board
The Albanese Government has appointed Melinda Cilento as a part-time member of the Reserve Bank of Australia's Monetary Policy Board. The appointment is for a five-year term starting from September 1, 2026.
Cilento is a highly respected economist with broad expertise and experience in senior economic policy roles, including CEO of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia and Commissioner at the Productivity Commission.
The appointment follows a thorough selection process involving consultation with the Opposition. A panel comprising the Reserve Bank Governor, Treasury Secretary, and former Secretary Martin Parkinson AC PSM compiled a shortlist of candidates based on an open expression of interest process.
