Meta Explores Non-Dollar Bond Market as Tech Giants Diversify Funding
Meta Platforms, parent company of Facebook, has been conducting non-deal roadshows with European bond investors for at least the past week. This move is seen as a potential precursor to Meta's first-ever bond issuance in a currency other than US dollars.
The meetings, which allow companies and investors to interact without a formal bond offer, do not guarantee that Meta will ultimately access funding in this market. However, if it does issue bonds in Europe, it would mark a notable milestone for the company.
Meta's most recent public US dollar bond financing was in April this year, when it raised $25 billion through a six-part bond issuance.
This move is part of a broader trend among tech giants to diversify their funding sources and seek non-dollar bond markets. Amazon, for example, entered the British pound bond market for the first time this week, raising £4.25 billion (approximately $5.75 billion) through a four-part bond deal.
