Mexican Peso Soars on Economic Growth and Easing Inflation

The Mexican Peso has shown significant strength against the US dollar in recent weeks, with the USD/MXN exchange rate falling below 17.

This improvement is attributed to a combination of factors, according to Michael Pfister at Commerzbank. Firstly, Mexico's real economy is performing better than expected, despite ongoing conflicts in Iran.

The country has also seen smoother negotiations with the US regarding the USMCA agreement, which has eased concerns about trade disputes.

Inflation rates are another key factor, as month-on-month core inflation has been trending towards the middle of the target band.

Banxico's decision to pause rate cuts has also had a positive impact on the peso, with real interest rates now supporting its value.
